The Meade Senior High Student Services site offers easy information and access to a number of mental health resources within the Meade community. Through ESSER grant funds, Student Services has created the “Substance Use Prevention and Intervention Team” to support schools around the issue of substance use and abuse prevention. This is a partnership with Thrive Behavioral Health and the team is comprised of two licensed mental health and addictions clinicians who will come to the schools to screen, assess, intervene, and refer students who are at-risk of substance use or abuse. They will also be available to provide psychoeducation in groups or a table at lunch with materials and the opportunity to ask questions.
In addition to direct counseling for students and families and referrals to outside agencies, this team is also available to provide professional development for staff and lessons in the classroom on the topic of substance use and abuse prevention. This team will be available to all schools in AACPS, including elementary schools. If you are interested in referring a student to this service and/or accessing prevention supports from the team, please contact the student's school counselor or a member of this team.
The AACPS Expanded School-Based Mental Health program is a partnership with AACPS and five clinical community counseling agencies who provide mental health therapy to students in about 110 of our school buildings. Our assigned partner is Villa Maria. Students who are eligible for Medicaid are potentially eligible for supports within their school day. Please reach out to your student's school counselor or Liz Saperstein, School Social Worker if you are interested in receiving this support.

We are your school psychologist team and we work with the school administrators, special education case-manager, school social worker and school counselors. We offer consultation supports and services to staff and parents who have concerns about their student's behavior, mental health or performance at school. In addition to providing direct counseling services to special education students and students with 504 plans, counseling can be provided to general education students in need with written consent.
Parents and guardians, please feel free to call or email to schedule a consultation for your student.
Students may also drop by the school counseling suite during office hours with a pass from their instructor.

In AACPS, they are here to help students with social, emotional and life adjustments that may affect success in the classroom. School social workers can be the link between home, school and community in providing direct as well indirect services to students and their families. We do home visits as needed, supply resources, and work with special education and general education students with parental/guardian permission. We also consult with teachers and administration as needed.
