VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION DAYS (VID)

On inclement weather days or during emergency situations that AACPS implements virtual instruction, a virtual schedule will be followed.

AACPS will delineate whether the VID for that school day is synchronous (live student instruction with teacher) or asynchronous (independent student learning). Regardless of the AACPS decision, Apex+ classes will be asynchronous.

After a VID is announced by AACPS, the Apex+ Teacher Specialist will send a message stating that we are on a virtual schedule.

ATTENDANCE

Attendance will be taken based on the student logging into their Apex+ Brightspace class. To be counted present for the day, students must log into their Apex+ Brightspace class before 4:00 PM.

ASYNCHRONOUS VIRTUAL INSTRUCTION

Activities and assignments with associated resources or resource links will be posted on the Apex+ Brightspace (in Announcements, Content folders, or Assignments areas) no later than 12:00 PM on the asynchronous VID. Students should locate the activities/assignments specific to the Apex+ course they are registered for.

Apex+ teachers will be available for 1 hour (4:00 PM- 5:00 PM) during the asynchronous Apex+ session to help students who many have questions about the day’s activities or assignments. A Google Meet link will be provided.

Credit will be awarded to students who meet the expectations on the rubric and turn their work in by 7:00 PM. If a student does not complete the VID assignment, they will not earn the 1.25 hours for that days class, just as if they were absent.
