PRIME SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS

The primes with specific requirements include:
Design & Production and all Music Primes

DESIGN & PRODUCTION PRIME

All Apex Arts Design & Production (D&P) students in grades 9-11 are required to be enrolled in the D&P Lab Program (Tuesdays & Thursdays) and to accrue a minimum number of hours in mentored instruction by the end of the 2022-2023 school year.

These hours are required in conjunction with those earned in projects assigned by the D&P Prime lead, and Studio 39 Applied Arts Classes and Projects (optional).

D&P student/mentor pairings as well as lab location (Annapolis HS or Studio 39) will be matched by Mrs. Rothschild. Lab is on both Tuesdays and Thursdays during the Apex+ timeframe. In addition to the lab time, Mrs. Rothschild will also pair students with projects across the year. Hours spent in those projects also go toward the D&P students Apex+ Requirement. Students should be able to meet 45 hours or more within the D&P Lab program alone, though we do recommend students explore other offerings as well, and keep an eye on their earned hours throughout the year.

The Design & Production Lab Program is managed by Mrs. Lian Rothschild. Please visit the Teaching Artists, Production page to learn more about mentors.

MUSIC PRIME

All Apex Arts Music students in Years 1, 2, and 3 are required to be enrolled in weekly Applied Music Lessons and to accrue a minimum number of hours in lesson instruction by the end of the 2022-2023 school year. These lessons will be scheduled by the Music Department Chair during the Apex Arts Prime class or within the Apex+ program. Those lessons scheduled in the Apex+ Program will be applied to students’ Apex+ requirement. Lessons are not a component of the Apex+ program unless the lesson is scheduled during the Apex+ timeframe.

Lesson schedules will be available by the first day of school. Musicians who choose to opt in to a Studio 39 Applied Art class or Project (or Virtual lab) are encouraged to do so. Should the scheduled weekly Applied Music Lesson conflict, you will have an option to drop.

We anticipate the lesson schedule may be impacted due to the systematic change in schedule, facility construction, and transportation - students will not be responsible for hours that are not able to be met due to any conflicts in the Department Chair’s ability to schedule the lessons.
