About Bates Drama Club

The primary goal of the Bates Drama Club is to provide a rigorous art making environment with high standards that encourage students to stretch their abilities, successfully collaborate with a group of middle school peers on a months-long, complex project, and present their art to the public. Membership is by audition and open to all Bates students.

Students who thrive in this type of environment create extraordinary work and have fun doing it. Performing in this group is not for everyone and not everyone makes the cut. If you are considering auditioning, you must review the audition information sheet, the rehearsal schedule, and the student participation contract. All of these documents are available well before auditions at the beginning of the school year.

If you are interested in theater but prefer to work behind the scenes to help make the magic on stage, please review our information on tech leadership positions and tech crew. Many of these positions start only a few weeks before performances and, with the exception of tech and dress rehearsals and all performances, have fairly flexible schedules.

The Bates Drama Club was founded by Bates parent Jessica Farrar and Bates students in 2016.
