GRADES PreK-6

We provide several cultural activities throughout the school year for our Native American Students and the teacher's classroom.  Some of our activities are done in the classroom so that all students have the opportunity to learn about Native American culture, during after school tutoring, and tutoring during the day.  We also provide arts and crafts as take-home projects and evening events for NASS students and their immediate families.  Activities and events will vary from year to year.

Cultural Summer Read Books/Reading Challenge

All of our students in PreK - 6 will receive a brand new cultural book to read over the summer.  Included with their book is a Reading Challenge Form.  Once the book is read, fill out the form to receive another fun summer activity.  Each book is chosen based on the grade level of each student.

Summer 2023 Cultural Summer Read Reading Challenge

Evening Cultural Events

We hold evening cultural nights for our Title VI/NASS families.  This can be anything from dancers, storytellers, or a make-and-take activity.  A flyer is sent by mail about these events.

Cherokee Cultural Celebration Field Trip

 for 5th Graders

In the fall the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum hosts the Cherokee Cultural Celebration. This event is put on by the Cherokee Nation and includes hands-on participation and activities such as basket weaving, pottery, stickball, and chunkey learning about the Cherokee lifestyle during the 19th century.  A flyer will be sent out with sign-up information.  This is not a yearly event.
