We are the Animal Cruelty exhibition group in 5B.
Our style of the painting is quite straight forward. The background is a tiger skin, chosen to represent animals, specifically for tigers used in the circus.
Our symbol is the tiger's fur because it revolves around a lot of issues, such as tigers in the circus, poaching, using animals for their fur, and more. The message the symbol is sending is that the tiger’s fur not only represents that they are being used for their fur, but also so much more.
We chose the quote, “C’est quand chacun d'entre nous attend que l'autre commence qu'il ne se passe rien.” by Abbé Pierre. In English this means that when everyone waits around for somebody to start making a change, then nothing will ever change because it is constantly being delayed. Abbé Pierre was born in 1912 and passed away in 2007. He was a famous priest and social activist in France at the time. He fought for France in the second world war before he became a priest.
Let’s not wait for someone else to protect the animals, lets go ahead and do it ourselves!
