Library Information

The Brookside Library houses 14,000 titles.

It is organized by TOPIC rather than by the Dewey Decimal System. We use a genrified system called METIS. 26 topical categories, books organized alphabetically within each category.

This blog: Dewey to METIS represents the thinking that went in to the re-cataloging project we completed in 2013.

Parents

There are so many resources for good books, like this one:

Best Books for Kids

Never hesitate to ask! I love making Book Recommendations to families.

We encourage all parents and guardians to use our collection.  You will receive notices weekly of the books your child/ren have at home. Please help them learn to be good library stewards by keeping library books accessible, reading and or discussing what they bring home, and returning them promptly. The library staff will not restrict what you children borrow and encourages you to help your child make decisions regarding responsible library use.

My thoughts on responsibility are reflected here.
