Parent Resources
Thanks for supporting your child with their math! Here are some resources to help them with their work at home.
Math Homework - Some Suggestions…..
- Set aside a quiet, designated space for doing schoolwork at home.
- Decide if electronics will be allowed in this space, and whether music might help serve to focus or distract.
- In addition to where, determine when your student will complete their schoolwork. Creating routines & habits around homework can be very helpful.
- Look at your student’s What’s Up Book to make sure you are both clear on the assignment.
- Check out instructional videos and practice examples on www.khanacademy.org.
- Watch entertaining and helpful videos on the Math Antics YouTube Channel.
- If needed, double check the Homework Assignments posted on this site for all of the classes each week.
- Your student’s Math Google Classroom might also be a helpful resource to check, since some assignments will be posted there.
- Consider purchasing the resource book Math On Hand (grades 5,6) or Math on Call (grades 6,7,8) to keep at home. They can be found inexpensively ($3-5) at www.thriftbooks.com.
- Consider purchasing the Homework Helper books, created specifically to support parents supporting their children at home with math.
