Five Senses Scavenger Hunt Complete the Five Scavenger Hunt. Talk about the function of your body parts as you explore items in your home.

Feelings GameHelp your child cut out the feelings cards. Play memory and work on identify labeling feelings. As an extension discuss what might make you experience the different emotions. For example, “What makes you sad?”



Feelings Discussion Read your favorite story and discuss the character’s feelings throughout the story. Discuss what might have made the character sad, happy, or mad.



Potato Head Craft

Create a Potato Head Puppet with your child. Label each part and discuss the function of each part. Ask, "What do we do with our eyes?" After discussing or labeling each part. Have your child use language to request items to glue onto the puppet. Work at your child's level. Work on expanding sentences by using the carrier phrase, "I want..." If your child is not yet spontaneously labeling items then give them a model to imitate or ask them to select an item when you name it. For example, "Get the eyes." Once you have created a puppet, use it to play pretend. Pretend to feed your puppet, put it to bed, etc.

Color the girl/boy. Cut apart the boy/girl into pieces separating the body parts. Prompt your child to label the body parts and request them in order to glue the parts back together onto cardstock or construction paper. For example, "I want the hand."

Body Part "Boo boo" Game

Use a red dry erase marker to make "boo boos" on the boy/girl mat. Ask your child, "Where is the boo, boo?" Label the body part. Place a real band aid on the boo boo or cut out the printed band aids to place on the boo boo. Take turns making boos boos and discussing what might have happened. Ask, "Who has a boo, boo?" Try and expand your child's sentences using pronouns, he and she. For example, "He has a boo boo on his knee."

Name Craft

se the name mats for a variety of activities this week. Trace or decorate the letters, then cut the letters apart. Glue them onto the card stock paper. Practice copying your name.
