The name of this organization shall be the West Lafayette High School Fencing Club.
The purpose of this organization shall be to allow members to participate in the sport of fencing.
Section 1
Regular membership in this organization shall be open to West Lafayette High School students. Membership and participation shall be free from discrimination based on gender, race, religion, ethnic group, national origin, handicap, or sexual orientation.
Section 2
Any member may be expelled from this organization by failing grades, not following club procedures, or violating safety instructions. Expulsion from the school will also mean expulsion from the organization. Participants in this club will have to sign and follow X-2 agreement forms; in addition, officers will have to sign and agree to X-3 forms for leadership positions.
Section 1
The elected officers of this organization shall be President, Vice President, Armorer, and up to 3 Assistant Armorers. Only regular members may hold office.
Section 2
The advisors, who shall be in charge of the activities, are to be an adult from the Facility or above the age of 21.
Section 1
The duties of the President shall be to delegate authority as Chairman of the Executive Board in accordance to Board decisions, to act as the club's representative to outside organizations, and to complete all West Lafayette High School forms related to the operation of the Club.
Section 2
The duties of the Vice President shall be to assume the Chairmanship of the Executive Board in the event of the President's absence and to increase membership
Section 3
The duties of the Armorer shall be to maintain club equipment in good working order, maintain an up-to-date inventory of club equipment, supervise the activities of the Assistant Armorers.
Section 4
The duties of the Assistant Armorers shall be to assist the Armorer in the maintenance of club equipment.
Section 1
All activities of this organization shall be conducted in accordance with all applicable School regulations particularly those of the Athletic and School Handbook.
Section 2
All officers shall be in place one year and shall qualify in accordance with West Lafayette School Policy.
Section3
The requirements for active membership will be established at the first general meeting of the academic year.
Section 4
Dues will be collected for the sole purpose of maintaining equipment necessary to this organization. Equipment will be provided (as necessary) by the club. Scholarships may be available for those in economic need on an as-need basis.
Section 5
If any member wants to purchase their own gear it will be inspected by the sponsors or officers to ensure that equipment meets safety guidelines. There is no leeway on this policy. It a member does not want their equipment checked, it will not be allowed in sparring situations.
Section 6
Policies and procedures listed in this Constitution and Bylaws may be changed with a majority vote by the elected officers and sponsors.
