This year, the middle school math department will use Standards-Based Grading. Student grades will come from the percent of the mathematical standards they're proficient on. Students will track their own progress and can see which standards they haven't mastered yet. When a student isn't yet proficient, he or she can reassess for full credit — but only after additional practice.
Proficiency Ratings for Mathematical Standards:
HP = High Performance 100%
PR = Proficient 93%
CP = Close to Proficient 78%
NYP = Not Yet Proficient 62%
