Dear 3rd grade parents/guardians,
Welcome back to Windber Elementary School! We are so excited to be working with you and your child this year! We wanted to introduce ourselves, and offer some information that will be helpful to you and your child about what their 3rd grade experience is going to look like.
Your Teachers/Classes
There are two teachers in 3rd grade that your child will see each day. Miss Price who teaches ELA (English Language Arts) and Social Studies and Mrs. Kirkwood who teaches Math and Science. Students will be switching classrooms and will be expected to transport all of their classroom materials in a bookbag to each class.
Chromebooks
Students will no longer be taking chromebooks home. There will be a cart with chromebooks in each classroom that the students will use when needed.
Materials
Each student will be provided with the following classroom materials. These materials will stay in the student’s homeroom and will be used everyday. As stated above, we are having students keep all materials in their homeroom that will be transported from class to class by them. We need your assistance in making sure these materials stay in their classrooms and if they are accidentally taken home are brought back. We give them their own individual materials to eliminate students sharing items. They will receive:
Math journals 1 and 2, a coach book, and a coach assessment book
2 notebooks (ELA, and Science)
A folder for ELA, Social Studies, and math
A pencil box with crayons, a glue stick, two pencils, 2 pencil top erasers, a whiteboard maker and a whiteboard eraser.

If you would like to send in extra snacks that can be shared with anyone who forgets that would be greatly appreciated. I can keep them in my closet and share them when needed.
Communication
Communication is going to be key to a successful school year. Please do not hesitate to contact us through the elementary office at (814) 467-5596 or our emails.

We are also asking parents to sign up for ParentSquare as this will be the new communication avenue for the entire school. This is an easy way for us to send out reminders and notifications to keep you updated about important information.
Last, but not least, we know that your child’s safety and education is of the utmost importance. It is so important for us all to pull together collaboratively as a collective team. Thank you in advance for all of your support and everything that you do to assist in their educational journey.
