Classroom Expectations

Classroom Rules

1. Keep our classroom neat and clean

2. Listen and follow directions

3. Always try your best

4. Be prepared

5. Respect yourself and others

Homework

There will be homework most days. Homework will not be taken up. However, a homework quiz or homework check may be conducted. Homework quizzes will be unannounced. They will consist of only problems I assigned as homework. A homework check means I will walk around the room to see if you completed your homework or not. A grade will be given based on how many problems you attempted to work. Homework is EXPECTED to be done. If you don’t work problems on your own in this class, you will not be very successful.

Test Review

On the day before the test, I will let you know the types of questions that will be on the test, both multiple choice and free response. Questions about understanding should not wait until this day. The moment you know you don’t understand, I need to know. There is so much material we will cover this semester that builds on previous learning. It is imperative to let me know quickly that you need help. Review days are meant to calm our nerves about what could be asked on the test.

Tests and Quizzes

All tests will consist of multiple choice and free response type questions. On some tests, calculators will NOT be permitted. I will let you know before the test if this is the case. Quizzes will be announced. Students who miss a quiz due to an absence must make up the quiz the day they return to school. Students who are absent the day of a test will take the test the following day during the class period. Students who are absent the day before a test will still take the test on the regularly scheduled day.

Don’t mind either in my room. However, be respectful of my classroom and clean up your mess. If it does become a problem, I will handle on an individual basis.

Cell Phones

Cell phones are expected to be out of sight during class instruction. If it becomes a problem, I will follow school policy and turn the cell phone in to the correct administrator.

In addition, extra credit will be awarded for cell phones that are kept in the red pockets during class time. The extra credit points will be added to the chapter tests. You will be awarded ½ a point for each day it is in the pocket.

Leaving the Classroom

When leaving the classroom, make sure to sign-out and take a pass. You may not leave the classroom during the first or last fifteen minutes. You do not need to interrupt my the class to let me know you need to go to the bathroom. I would prefer you just get up and follow the correct procedure. However, if it becomes a problem, I will handle it on an individual basis.
