Dear Parents and Families,
As we begin the school year we are going to start our All About Me and My Family study. Families are an important part of a child’s identity, and children love to talk about their families. We will be studying the different people who make up families, how families are different, the function of a family, as well as looking at some of the traditions that each family has.
As we study families, we will learn concepts in social studies, literacy, and science. We will also be developing critical thinking skills as we observe, investigate, make connections, ask questions, solve problems, and organize information. PLEASE SEND IN A FRAMED PICTURE OF YOUR FAMILY THAT I CAN DISPLAY IN THE CLASSROOM FOR THE ENTIRE YEAR. I will return these to you at the end of the school year.
We will also be learning about the classroom, special places to put items in the classroom, our schedule, special things that happen in and out of the classroom (like fire drills etc.) and learning about all of the fun centers we have in the classroom.
What can you do at home:
As a family, you can look through old family photo albums and talk about all of the people you consider part of your family. Have your child help you send a card, letter, or email to a family member to share something special that has happened in his or her life.
Please send in:
Do you have special foods that you eat at home?
If they come in cardboard boxes and are unique to your family, please send in the clean cardboard or plastic container. We would love to have this in our classroom!
