I am passionate about making great connections with my students, building a foundational trust with them, and showing them every single day that they are loved, supported, encouraged, cheered on and challenged in my classroom; and not only by me, but by their peers as well. Building a strong class "family" is an important part of our daily lessons...always demonstrating kindness, supporting each other, showing respect in words and in actions, and honoring each other's opinions. These are core values in my class that we work on all year!
I LOVE teaching kids. This will be my 18th year teaching 2nd grade. I have also taught 4th grade for 9 years and 3rd grade for 1 year! My favorite subjects to teach are reading and writing. It is so much fun to share my favorite books with kids and to bring the world alive for them through stories. I love to teach cool ways to generate ideas to write about and to turn those ideas and thoughts into fantastic stories. In my free time I enjoy reading, going out to dinner, vacationing, watching movies, kayaking, going e-biking, playing Pickle Ball, hanging out with my kids, my husband and friends, and shopping! Lots of shopping!
