BUILDING

Major close out inspections are wrapping up at the new Fairfield Inn by Marriott 430 Main Street. A final inspection is scheduled for Tuesday November 19.

Structural steel is complete at the North Science Center, metal stud and curtain wall installation is ongoing.

Fort Bradshaw internal demolition is complete and the addition foundation is nearly complete.

The St. Anthony Hall project for the CDE program has begun making significant progress towards completion. Liquor license inspections are just starting to wrap up.

HEALTH

The health Inspector has been witnessing numerous system inspections. If needed, he has authorized minor repairs of components to allow the system to pass inspection; for larger repairs permits were issued and, if needed, soil evaluations for replacement fields were performed.

Installation inspection for new system on new dwellings have been permitted and inspected.

Inspections on restaurants and rental housing units (both as a normal inspection and, at times, by complaint) are proceeding.

The Board of Health past a local regulation specifying monetary fines for violations of local health regulations.

The Board of Health has amended its septic system regulations requiring that septic tanks, distribution boxes, and pump chambers be fitted with risers to grade to insure proper access for system maintenance.

Gas pumps and retail scales in the Town have been inspected and certified.

LAND USE

The Planning Board has finalized draft zoning amendment language to bring our rules on nonconforming single and two family homes into compliance with recent Supreme Judicial Court rulings. They continue to work on bylaw amendments for cannabis production, very long driveways, and lighting.

Zoning Board meets this week to look at a nonconforming house on Orchard Lane proposing an adition.

Conservation Commission met last week and discussed wetlands protection issues as they relate to artificial turf playing fields.

The Department recently awarded a contract for the remaining abatement work at 330 Cole Avenue in the "cube" building to Ultimate Abatement of Plainfield, MA.
