The COA/NB Transport annual coat drive is sailing along, to date over 70 coats have been donated through the COA by caring individuals to share with North County neighbors who need a comforting warm garment to ward off the winter cold. Our annual goal for collecting at the Harper center is 100 and we're almost there. so-if you have a new or gently used winter coat you'd wish to donate to a neighbor in need we'll take it! Coats may be left at the Harper Center, 118 Church Street, between 8:00 and 4:00 Monday through Friday until January 31 or at the NA Ambulance offices on Water Street in Williamstown.
The COA will begin scheduling individuals looking for assistance filing their state and local 2018 taxes in early January 2019. The AARP Tax Aide program is a free service provided annually from the beginning of February through tax D-Day on April 15th. AARP Tax Aide personnel are all trained volunteers and our Williamstown crew are veteran tax aides having helped out here at Harper for quite a few seasons. We love our tax aides!!! Still, we could always use another volunteer. If you or someone you know is interested in finding a short term volunteer opportunity, this could be it. All volunteers are trained by the AARP in all things tax prep, have plenty of support and supervision available. The commitment is light, 3 hours weekly for two months and with it comes the knowledge that you have provided a truly valuable community service.
