Code Red

Now that MEMA has approved and signed our grant contract which covers half of the cost of the contract, we are taking steps to roll out the CodeRed notification system over the next several months. Staff and partners will be receiving training to operate the system over the next few weeks as we target having the system go live in March. Initially, households with landlines will receive a test call to "clean" publicly available databases. Residents will then have the option to self-enroll cell phones and emails for the option of calls, texts, and/or emails.

This system will allow us to rapidly provide emergency updates to people through one initiating call from someone on our Emergency Management team. In addition, there are non-emergency benefits with the system for proactive notification of road closures and water shutoffs for temporary repairs (rely on door knocking and hang tags now).

I have experience using this system and it's deployment was well received both by staff and community members and proved to be an important resource in several emergency type situations.

I believe I've shared the summary attached previously, but it provides a good refresher about the system.
