We've submitted 2 Direct Local Technical Assistance applications to BRPC. One is a collaborative project with Great Barrington, North Adams and Pittsfield to investigate broadband access and issues in towns already served by some degree of service (this contrasts with the Wired West initiatives and others that are trying to serve unconnected towns). Areas of interest include ensuring cable company continues to invest and to also protect and develop existing downtown business districts for future development so we are not leapfrogged by more rural and isolated locations.
In addition, Planning Board is seeking assistance for an Agricultural Overlay District to enhance economic opportunity for farmers. This is an outgrowth of the Open Space and Recreation Plan.
