Being a Minor
WHAT IS REQUIRED TO MINOR IN PSYCHOLOGY?
The minor in Psychology requires a minimum of 15 hours in psychology, including: Introductory Psychology (151), Research Methods (310 or a substitute [see below]); and at least two of the following courses. The remaining two credits can be taken from this list or any Psychology course with a number over 100. An average Psychology GPA of 2.0 is required to graduate with a minor. Plan to take at least two courses from the ones in bold and italicized. The other courses are required for the Psychology Major, and are likely to be filled with Psychology majors. You may take more than two courses from the list above, but you must take at least two.
Students who take the following courses or pairs of courses in other majors may be exempt from taking the Psychology 310 course. However, although the specific course requirement may be waived, you do not receive credit for the course(s) toward the minor. Students still must complete at least 15 hours in Psychology in order to fulfill the requirements for the minor.
To waive the PSY 310 Research Methods requirement for the Psychology minor, at least one set of the following courses must be completed.

Politics and International Affairs: POL 280 ~ Research Methods AND Math & Statistics: STA 111 ~ Elementary Probability and Statistics
Psychology: PSY 311 ~ Research Methods 1
Sociology: SOC 271 ~ Social Statistics AND SOC 272 ~ Research Methods in Sociology
*if you are an Accountancy major, which only requires BEM 201, then this does not fulfill the requirement to be exempt from taking PSY 310 or 311.
