COLOR DAY
To kick off our spring break, we ended the week with a student council-sponsored spirit day. Each grade was asked to wear a particular color and read the Legacy Award book, One . A book that shows ways to cope with a bully. Fifth grade wore red!
Happy Chinese New Year! Sam visited us today from the middle school. He explained the history of the Chinese New Year and taught the class how to use a Chinese paint brush to write "Lucky".
Literature Leaders
This fall students were picked to take part in a Literature Leaders group. Besides our memoir LDGs, students were asked to read Lois Ehlert's book, Scraps. Then they created their own Lois Ehlert piece, using Scraps and the natural world as their inspirations.
Good-bye to Sam
We are sad to see Sam leave us and head to the middle school. We are excited for his new adventure. We hope that Sam will visit us this school year and share with us all about sixth grade. On Tuesday, Sam shared a slide show to tell us how he is feeling about the change. Then we gave him a binder with good-bye notes. Some students created art pieces or fans to give Sam as a going-away gift. Thank you to Caroline, Ezri, Ivy, and Charlotte for bringing in treats to share for the bittersweet celebration!!
Student Council
Here are some photos from our first Student Council Meeting. We began our meeting with a TED Talk about leadership. Next, groups created posters about leadership. Then we broke into sub-groups to start our work for the year!
