• Password is gwood10! (note the exclamation mark at the end, it’s part of the password)

When you are ready to check out a book, which will allow you to save your place in the book automatically, you’ll need to log in to your MackinVia backpack. The Log In is in the upper right hand corner.

Mrs. Olson has created your MackinVia backpack, with your username being the same as your Google Id, before the @ symbol. Initially, your password is password (you can change it later!).

You can change your password by going to My Profile in the upper right corner after you log in. Scroll to the bottom of your profile information and you will see a link to Change Password.

Search for the book you’d like to read or listen to and as you hover over the picture you will see cover change to buttons shown below. Choose to open now if you’d like to read without checking out, and choose check out, if you’d like to have the app save your place. Books automatically check back in after 14 days. You can renew a book if you’re not done.

Another feature that is available if you choose “Checkout” is text to speech, where the book is read aloud to you. It’s not like a person reading, but it’s not horrible! Click Open Now.

You will see controls along the bottom of the page - click “play” (arrow) to listen, click “pause” to stop and use the drop down menu to change the speed of reading. The words that are being read aloud are highlighted in yellow.
