Student Expectations
At Desert Foothills we take student success quite seriously. For students to be successful we all should adhere to a few expectations. These will insure that students are getting the most out of their time here at DF.
1. Being prepared with materials for class.
2. Behaving as expected in the classroom, in the cafeteria and anywhere on campus.
3. Being actively involved in learning.
4. Choosing appropriate methods for solving peer interaction problems such as:
a) Reporting to teacher on playground or in the classroom.
b) Walking away.
c) Talking the situation through.
5. I have to mention one of our district's mottoes. "No one has the right to interfere with the learning or safety of others." Students interfering with with others' education will not be tolerated.
During the first week of science classes we will discuss other expectations that will help students be as successful as possible.
Class Materials
1. Lined standard paper (college or wide ruled OK)
2. Pencil and Pen (Blue or Black ink)
3. A pocket folder to be used for science only, to be kept in your 3 ring binder
Classroom Behavior and Discipline
In an effort to curb disruptions in the classroom we have adopted this school wide discipline plan. If a student is being repeatedly disruptive we will follow this discipline plan.
1. Verbal/Nonverbal warning.
2. Isolation within the room (5 min).
3. Isolation in another teacher’s room. Student fills out reflection sheet and the student then has an after school detention assigned to them.
4. Extreme cases or refusal to follow these steps will result in an office referral.
