BISC/BIOC 219 Assignments, Fall 2019
In this course, we will use multiple types of assessments and grading strategies to help you achieve our lab goals.
- Formative assessments will give you a chance to practice new skills with a thorough self-review of all the components. These assignments will be graded for completeness and general adherence to the guidelines, and will be assessed on a check/check-plus/check-minus scale.
- In-class assignments will be completed during lab and with a partner, to help you solidify concepts from lab or from previous homework.
- Peer review will give you an opportunity to practice analysis of the skills we have already learned. These assignments may be due on Sakai several days before lab to allow time for peer review to occur before class; please be sure to check the due dates!
- Summative assessments allow you to “show what you know.” These assignments are graded for points for quality, competence, and completion, and are based on skills you have already learned and practiced.
- Lab practical will be given as a take-home quiz for worm identification after the third lab. This is considered a summative assessment.
- Pre-lab quizzes will be due at the start of lab every week. These are worth two points each.
