Welcome to Latin II! This course expands upon Latin I and continues to give the student a solid foundation in Latin grammar and vocabulary, as well as continued exposure to Roman civilization and culture. The primary emphasis of the course is to develop reading skills in Latin while learning more advanced grammar topics such as participles and the perfect system of verbs, as well as the subjunctive voice. Basic spoken Latin is used as a tool for enhancing understanding. Culture topics include ancient heroes, numismatics (the study of coins), Roman history from the Flavian Dynasty up through the fall of the Roman Empire, and the impact of Latin and the Roman Empire on the Western World, especially in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
On the sidebar, you will find links to pages for every unit.
