Manufacturing Academy offers three areas of specialty -- manufacturing, logistics/supply chain and corporate administration.
Manufacturing
Manufacturing involves using machinery to combine a collection of raw materials into a finished product that can be sold to customers. Manufacturing companies in the floorcovering industry provide products and services to consumers all over the globe and are increasingly automating production lines to further enhance product quality, consistency, and efficiency. Within the manufacturing organizations in Northwest Georgia, many exciting careers exist within Manufacturing including: engineering, industrial maintenance, production, robotics/automation, sustainability, process improvement, management/supervision, quality, research & development, chemical operations, and many others.

The term "logistics" encompasses the movement of goods and services within an organization and to the consumers in the marketplace around the world. The question businesses face on an ongoing basis, especially in a highly competitive marketplace, is how to move their products efficiently and cost effectively throughout the global supply chain. Within the manufacturing organizations in Northwest Georgia the logistics process includes the movement of freight (transportation), warehousing of raw materials and finished goods inventory and the packaging of products for shipment (distribution), placing of orders by customers (customer service), importing/exporting of goods (international), and fleet maintenance (diesel mechanic).

The floorcovering industry is well known for having manufacturing and logistical operations in Northwest Georgia. In addition to those operations, the corporate office functions of most of the floorcovering manufacturers are also located here. Within Corporate Administration in most of the organizations, careers exist in many exciting fields, including: accounting, financial services, human resources, talent recruiting, training & development, information systems, information technology, product design, sales & marketing, risk management (including safety & environmental), legal, and many other fields.
