To provide students with practical and applicable training and education in advanced manufacturing, the Advanced Manufacturing & Business Academy includes opportunities for students to participate in high school apprenticeship component. During the Junior and Senior years in the pathway, the academic requirements and structure are designed to provide students the ability to pursue apprenticeships with regional manufacturers and suppliers to the manufacturing industry. Partner companies will provide paid apprenticeship opportunities in manufacturing, logistics, and administrative fields. Students will apply for available apprenticeship positions and complete an interview and selection process with the partner company.
Advanced Manufacturing Apprenticeships will include the following features/components:
20 to 29 hours a week of paid employment (students will work up to 3 days per week at the partner company location and attend school the other 2 days per week)
Training and development in manufacturing principles and processes
On-the-job experience in entry level manufacturing and support jobs and roles
The potential for full-time summer employment
Coaching and mentoring from manufacturing management and leadership
Consideration upon graduation for full-time employment
To participate in apprenticeships, students must:
Complete the first two (2) years of the AM Pathway requirements
Meet all academic requirements and maintain a 2.5 GPA
Be on track in all academic subjects, and for graduation
Be in good standing with attendance and conduct
Be 16 years of age, have a valid drivers’ license and dependable transportation
Successfully earn the OSHA 10-Hour Certificate (provided by NWGCCA)
