SSA

Single Subject Acceleration (SSA) is the practice of assigning a student to a higher-grade level than is typical, given the student's age, for the purpose of providing access to appropriately challenging learning opportunities. SSA allows students to show mastery of the content of a course without having taken the course. For example, a parent could nominate his/her child to skip a grade level of content in either Language Arts OR Mathematics.

SSA Process

Please note that this is a spring process for the next school year. There is no fall SSA testing window.

1. Parent nominates student for SSA in either ELA or Math in spring of the current school year by submitting a nomination form.

2. Student takes an assessment for the course they are requesting to skip.

3. School notifies parents of testing results.

4. Schools plan for SSA delivery.

5. Students may have an alternate schedule to accommodate for acceleration.
