The ABCs of 5th Grade

Attendance

Your child must be present to learn. Please send in absence notes when they are sick. More about Conn's attendance policy can be found here.

Batiking

We will be participating in batiking with Lenny Newell in the spring. Please send in newspapers and volunteer!

Birthdays

Please remember that while we want to celebrate your child's special day, the Conn policy asks you to avoid bringing in food treats. Any food that is brought in will be saved and distributed at the very end of the day.

4Cs

Students constantly work to develop the 21st century skills of communication, critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity.

Conferences

We will hold two conferences. The first one will be in the Fall and the second in the Spring.

Dismissal

Please make every effort to allow your child to remain at school for the entire day. We have ELA learning from 1:30 - 3:30 pm daily.

Not Yet

In 5th grade at Conn we foster a "not yet" growth mindset that encourages children to seek out and embrace challenge. Students may "not yet" understand a particular concept, but they know that learning is a process -- not an outcome. Watch a short series of videos about having a growth mindset with your student here.
