To Middle School Parents and Students:
The English Department and Library welcome you to the summer months and know you will enjoy this leisure time. Summer provides an opportunity for our students to discover a slower pace to their days. Summer reading helps students to delve deeply into new ideas, increase their language and writing skills, and simply relax. We strongly encourage students to make the time to read a wide range of books. With this in mind, the English Department and Library have put together this Middle School Summer Reading website to help students with their choices.
All students' English courses will begin with a unit based on their required summer reading, which consists of one assigned book and three books of their own choosing. It is essential that students complete this required summer reading before classes begin in September, arriving on the first day ready to discuss their texts.
Current students have already been provided with the required reading selections. New students will receive the reading by mail over the summer. Ebook and audiobook versions are available in the Waynflete Digital Library.
We look forward to an exciting year and wish all of you a summer of good reading!
