Instead, she finds herself in kinship care with a relative she barely knows, leading to uncertainty about her future. Through this journey, she forms a new friendship and gains insight into the challenges others face.

However, the narrative that everyone seems eager to share about Simon is the one he wishes he could erase from memory: the story where he's the sole survivor of a school shooting in his class.
