For New 6th Grade Students and Parents!!
WELCOME!!!! So, you want to play in orchestra....now what??? If you are feeling a little stressed about what to do-here is some info!
If you need an instrument there are several options:
BUT FIRST---
PLEASE DO NOT BUY AN INSTRUMENT FROM THE INTERNET OR A BIG BOX STORE!! If you want to purchase and not rent, please contact us and we are happy to help. Most of the instruments bought from places like EBAY and Wal-mart are poor quality and many are not even playable or tuneable. Even if it is "cheap" don't waste the money.
Option One-
Rent
Schultz Strings: http://www.schultzstrings.com/ (~$30 per month to rent a violin, $35 for viola, $45 for Cello) This also includes a stand, rosin and lesson book.
West Music: http://www.westmusic.com/ ($30-$50 per month depending on instrument and quality)
Both options will deliver the instrument to school and pick-up at Hoover for repairs as needed)
Option Two-
Purchase
Both of the rental shops above do have purchase options also, but we think it is better to rent for a year to be sure your student is committed to staying with it.
Option Three-
School-provided instrument
This is a service provided at no cost to you.
Each student MUST purchase their own lesson book, and (if possible) a folding music stand and rosin
