Orchestra Expectations and Guidelines for Success:

Have fun!!!

Come prepared to class with your instrument, music folder, shoulder pad (violins & violas), and a pencil.

Respect and support your classmates and teachers.

Take care of your instrument and music at all times (at school and at home)!

Be present and on time for class.

AND, FINALLY……. Practice at home!

Grading Policy

Curriculum is based upon solo and ensemble playing skills:

1.  Actions, techniques, and posture in string playing

2.  Further development in musical concepts and theory

3.  Ear training, notational reading, and sight-reading

4.  Multi-cultural ensemble and solo repertoire

The student’s grade will be earned by the following assignments:

Orchestra Participation/Classroom Behavior 

Concert Attendance 

All of our performance ensembles (band/choir/orchestra) REQUIRE concert attendance.  The 23/24 concert dates are:  

12/12:  Orchestra Concert @ Hoover 6:30 PM  

5/16: Orchestra Concert @ Hoover 6:30 PM.

**Concert dress for middle school musicians is a white top and black pants.
