Linking words (also called conjuctions or transition words) are used to connect phrases and sentences. They can be used to add ideas together, contrast them or show the reason for something.
Some linking words can come in the middle of a sentence, for example and, because, but, so, then, until etc. Other linking words begin sentences and are followed by a comma, for example furthermore, however, nevertheless, therefore, in conclusion, to summarize etc.
