Aerospace Network Security Simulator

DoD TSWG-USAF-FAA (2009-2010) Participated in the preliminary design concept and the development of the Aerospace Network Security Simulator (ANSS) joint project for USAF, DoD TSWG and FAA. TSWG is the Dept of Defense Technical Support Working Group. It is a National interagency research and development program for combating terrorism requirements at home and abroad. Worked with key universities and organizations which have capabilities in Information Security & Assurance and aircraft/airborne networks in support of Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) and the new "E-enabled" aircraft (B787, A380, A350, etc.). Completed nationwide survey and interview of 35 aviation universities for ANSS collaboration and research and recruited Wichita State University, Embry Riddle and Louisiana Tech University as participants in the project. New commercial and military aircraft and retrofits are introducing new technology and COTS components including flight controls, displays, and avionics, engine, and cabin systems. This introduces new security vulnerabilities to the aircraft which may impact aircraft safety. ANSS integrates industry, government and academic aeronautical simulators to assess and identify network security threats in an airborne network environment which represent a serious threat as NextGen comes into use.
