Individual Lifetime Activities 2: Outdoor Recreation

Welcome to Outdoor Recreation!

I am so excited to have you in my class this semester! I look forward to getting to know each of you, and helping you achieve your goals! You can expect to have a great time learning to implement the course content you will be learning online. This semester class will help you understand the importance of developing and maintaining an active lifestyle while enjoying the great outdoors! As a result of this class, you will learn how to make positive choices that will improve your health and fitness while enjoying and respecting your outside environment .

There are 2 parts to this P.E. class:

    1. Online Coursework = 50% of your grade. Plan on spending about 30 minutes working on the online coursework each week. You have 3 attempts on all tests and quizzes, and your highest score will be kept which gives you great control over your grade.. If you pass the pretest with 80%+, you can keep the pretest grade for the lesson without having to do it, however keep that in mind if you are trying to get an A in this class!

    2. Physical Activity Logs = 50% of your grade. You must complete 40 hours of outdoor physical activities throughout the semester (you may not count your activity hours you completed before the semester starts) for full course credit, or 20 hours if you need a Quarter credit. You may choose any activities that you enjoy! Running, cycling, mountain biking, swimming, hiking, walking, skiing, climbing, etc. (anything activities that involve being outdoors/in nature while raising your heart rate) are acceptable. 20 hours will be due at the end of 1st quarter and 20 more at the end of the semester. If you join the class late, just remember what matters most is that you turn in 40 hours (or 20 for .25 credit) by the end of the semester.

*Grades update in PowerSchool every Wednesday morning.

HERE is the direct link to the form to log your hours. Have your parent email me to verify your activity hours after you log them on the form.

*Filling out the Google Form is key because that is where I look to see how many hours you've done so far for the semester. Your fitness log in Edgenuity can help you keep track of your hours, but I will only check my Google Form to find your exercise hours and record your score.

If you submit 20 hours at the end of each quarter (40 total hours), you will stay on track and always have 100% for this part of the course.

*Please note, if you are taking 2 PE courses during the same semester, you CANNOT count your exercise hours towards both classes. You must complete 40 hours of exercise for each PE course.

*Grades update in PowerSchool every Wednesday morning.
