My Philosophy in Teaching
I view university teaching as a true mission, and not just a profession. To me, teaching is an art and a skill; and I believe a good university educator must continuously cultivate logical thinking and maintain intellectual flexibility.
Throughout my academic career, at different state and private universities, in the UK and Kurdistan Region, I have engaged, in addition to teaching, in other various aspects of university life, from research, developing curricula, mentoring students, editing in scientific journals, to obtaining large funds (like the Wellcome Trust, the CRDF Global organization, and the US Foreign Office).
This academic year, I had a great opportunity to expand the students’ personal development program of the college; a program designed to enhance students' reflective learning, logical reasoning and communication skills practices, amongst others, to encourage their personal growth and prepare them for modern global challenges.
Research is an essential part of academic life. In addition to its importance for raising our university’s ranking, a true researching attitude helps us understand our world better, and build the logical thinking skills we need in everyday life. My passion is to participate in shaping the future of research in Kurdistan to investigate health problems caused by pollution, and biodiversity conservation.
