My academic work combines research in Structural Engineering with academic leadership and institutional development. As Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Sulaimani, I am particularly interested in strengthening research, supporting postgraduate education, and creating an academic environment that encourages collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
My research focuses mainly on structural engineering, reinforced concrete, finite element modelling, structural testing, structural robustness, earthquake engineering, and sustainable construction materials. I am interested in research that connects scientific knowledge with practical engineering challenges and contributes to safer, more sustainable, and more resilient structures.
I also work closely with MSc and PhD students and academic staff, supporting research development, scientific publication, and international research collaboration. I believe that a strong research culture is essential for the long-term development of an engineering college.
As part of my role as Dean, I am actively involved in developing international academic and research partnerships, including joint research, postgraduate collaboration, joint supervision, student mobility, and dual- and joint-degree opportunities. I also encourage stronger cooperation between the College, industry, and professional organizations to create opportunities for applied research and innovation.
My broader academic goal is to contribute to the development of a research-oriented, internationally connected, and innovative College of Engineering, while creating greater opportunities for students and academic staff to engage with the international engineering and research community.
