Outline Biography

Dr. Nabaz Rashid Hama Aziz, an assistant professor currently working as a teacher in the Department of Geology at the University of Sulaimani since 1994. I worked as Assistant Lecturer in the university of Salahdin from 1989 to 1994 I have 28 years of experience working in the field of Igneous and metamorphic petrology and teaching of several topics like petrology, geochemistry, mineral chemistry, optical mineralogy, mineralogy and ore geology courses beside several researches. I joined the sulaimani technical institute as a dean in 1998, and I awarded MSc and Ph.D. in , 1986 and 2008 from the University of Mousl and Sulaimani in the field of Igneous and metamorphic petrology. I have eight published papers, and I supervised three M.Sc. students inside Iraq. I am an active member of several national societies like Kurdistan Academic Society and Kurdistan Geologists-Society.I enjoy reading and sports, and the knowledge and perspective that my reading gives me has strengthened my teaching skills and presentation abilities. I participated in many conferences, workshop and training courses inside Iraq. I have a good computer skill and working with many geological soft ware like SURFER, ILLUSTRATOR,PETROGRAPH. I speak Kurdish, Arabic and English languages.

Nabaz's research interest includes the following fields;

1. Researches on Basalt in Iraqi Zagros Mountains

2. Researches on Granite in the Zagros Ophiolite Belts

3. Researches on Serpentinite within Zagros Suture Zone

4. Economic minerals in Kurdistan
