Technical guidelines in academic writing
The videos for section 1 focus on technical guidelines in academic writing. This section is divided into three themes, namely; preparation of assignments; presentation of assignments and academic writing style. The preparation of assignments theme will provide basic information on how to address and assignment questions. The second theme, presentation of assignments, will provide guidelines on the structuring of headings, the table of contents and declaration of own work. It will also provide an elaboration on the introduction, body and conclusion of your assignment. This section will conclude with a video on labelling figures and/or illustrations and tables as well as the presentation of the list of sources consulted. The third and last theme in this section, academic writing style, will provide an overview on common spelling errors and punctuation matters as well as a brief overview on the nature of academic writing.
