The following is a list of events Juniors should be doing each month.

August

Check with Counselor to be sure you are on track to graduate.

Keep Your Grades Up. Your GPA Will Help You Get Into The

Colleges, Universities, or Tech School You Want To Go To.

If you are planning on graduating early ( a semester early or an entire year early) meet with Counselor to make sure all requirements are met and you have enough credits. Must go in front of the board before the October School Board Meeting.

Check with Counselor that you have met NCAA Clearing House

Rules if you are planning on participating in sports at the

Division I or Division II Level.

Check out www.TransferInIowa.org This is a new website relating to college credits and how they transfer in Iowa. If you are taking college classes in high school, this website will help you know how your credits will

transfer to one of the state universities.

September

Sign up with the Counselor to visit with college representatives when they come to school.

Attend college fairs--Lewis Central HS hosts one in Sept. and the Golden Circle College Fair in Altoona, IA is on Sunday, Sept. 26th from 12:30pm-3:00pm at Parrie Meadows Conference Center.

October

The ACT is this month.

Check out your colleges for Just Junior Days.

Take the PSAT/NMSQT if you signed up for it during your sophomore year.

November

Research colleges, universities, and tech schools. Make a list of possibilities.

December

The ACT is this month.

Research colleges, universities, and tech schools. Pros/Cons.

January

Check out Choices at www.ICANsucceed.org/IowaChoices for career and college exploration.

Attend the College Planning and FAFSA (Free Application For Student Aid) meeting put on by ICAN (Formally The College Planning Center) March 18th @ 6:00pm (College Planning & 7:00pm (Financial Aid) @ Tri-Center HS (2019-2020 school year).

Consider making a list of teachers, principals, guidance counselors, ministers, priests, community leaders, etc. that you would ask for letters of recommendation next year.

June

Make a summer reading list and read, read, read!!!

Look into any summer orientations or Junior Days to attend at colleges, universities, or tech schools.

Get a summer job or volunteer in an area that relates to a career you are interested in.
