Student Interviews

Our team is able to offer coordination of scheduling virtual and in-person interviews via Handshake. This is an opportunity for students to secure an internship or a full-time job offer without needing to travel to an employers’ location during class hours.

Request in-person or virtual interviews using this survey.

Interview Requests

All interview requests must be made via Handshake. To ensure timely publication of your recruiting visit, interviewing dates should be reserved and job descriptions finalized at least two months in advance of the anticipated date of your visit. Scheduling well in advance is especially important for employers who wish to host their interviews during the peak months of September-October or February.

Interview Schedule Type

  • Pre-select: Students who meet the work authorization requirements will apply to the posted position during a set period, you will then review all applicants and make candidate selections within the system. Once your selections are made in Handshake, students receive an automated email notifying them whether or not they have been selected. Those who have been selected also receive a message directing them to sign up for an interview timeslot. Our office will provide your interview schedule and the appropriate resumes by the day of your interviews.

  • Room Only: Allows students to view the available position(s) and apply via Handshake system where you can also direct them to your company website to apply. You would then be responsible for both notifying students whether or not they have been selected and the scheduling of all interviews. You are also responsible for printing interview packets.

  • Open: Any interested student who meets the work authorization requirements for the position can apply to the posted position and sign up for an interview timeslot. There is no candidate selection process on your end. Our office will provide your interview schedule and the appropriate resumes by the day of your interviews.

  • 2nd Round Interviews: This is strictly a room reservation used for 2nd round interviews. Students are not able to view this type of posting.

Student Eligibility to Interview

All Carlson School of Management students currently enrolled full-time in a degree-granting program (BSB, MAcc, or MBT) with a profile on Handshake are eligible to interview.

Timing of Interviews

We recommend conducting interviews Monday-Friday, between 8:00am-5:00pm.

Technology for Virtual Interviews

Once the interview schedule is confirmed and provided to you, you are then able to coordinate with the candidate the specific platform that you will be using for the interview itself (Skype, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, etc). Our goal is to provide you the schedule 48 hours prior to the interview in order for you to have ample time to finalize this step.

Interviewing Non-Carlson Students: 50% Policy

It is our policy that in order to schedule interviews through the Carlson School, your schedule must consist of at least 50% Carlson School students.

Student Declines

Please communicate with all candidates directly regarding their interview status. If you have removed a candidate from consideration, please inform the student as soon as possible so that they may focus on other opportunities.
