Build Your Brand

Outside of recruiting specific events, there are various ways to engage with Carlson School students and build brand awareness, an important complementary piece to recruiting efforts.

Sponsorship Opportunities

Looking to sponsor an event, case competition, connect with faculty or other programs? Feel free to contact Katy Fischgrabe (kfischgr@umn.edu) from our Corporate Relations Office to talk about these opportunities across the Carlson School.

UBCC's Career Week

Every fall, the UBCC coordinates a week of employer engagement events, networking, and career skills workshops to help Carlson School students prepare for fall recruiting. Career Week is one of the UBCC’s annual signature events, and engages more than 1,200 students and various employer partners annually. Interested in sponsoring Career Week? Reach out to your Employer Engagement main contact for more info!

Carlson Student Clubs

There are 25+ Carlson School specific student clubs. Organizations can sponsor a club event, speak at a meeting, host a site visit or plan another activity. Not every student is a part of his/her major-specific organization so don't overlook the groups that encompass all majors!

Fall 2020 semester updates for student clubs can be found here.

UBCC Volunteer Opportunities

We offer a number of workshops (resume review, mock interviews, etc) and events aimed at preparing our students for the job search and life beyond the classroom, including practice interviews and resume reviews. We often are looking for volunteers and welcome your participation! Please email CarlsonGoldPASS@umn.edu to indicate your interest in volunteering.

Maroon & Gold Network (Mentor Program)

The Maroon & Gold Network provides valuable career exploration and professional development opportunities by matching students with professionals. Mentors can help students obtain their goals by responding to questions, providing network connections and giving feedback on job search skills. All mentor relationships are conducted on a short-term basis. Students use these short-term options to conduct industry research, connect for informational interviews or have their resume reviewed by a professional in the field of industry.

Student Brand Ambassador

You can also leverage former and future hires as brand ambassadors on campus. Typically students put in a few hours each week and they help generate excitement, awareness and buzz about your organization through seeking out unique opportunities that will connect students with your brand. With an array of events happening at the Carlson School, it’s great to have another set of eyes and ears keeping you in touch with ways to deepen your involvement.

Leverage Alumni Connections

If there are any Carlson School alums within your organization, include them in recruiting events, ask for their guidance regarding the Carlson experience and utilize their faculty connections. Alumni are filled with knowledge that can aid in your recruiting efforts!
