As most of you know, efforts to re-establish an affinity group for Black faculty & staff began with the meet-and-greet reception back in September. Following that event, a Steering Committee was formed to determine the group's mission, purpose, strategy, constitution, logo and budget so that we may be recognized and fully functional as an official U of M affinity organization for employees of color. I, Alysia Lajune (current Chair) am pleased to say that these goals have been met and that, effective May 1, 2013 the U of M Black Faculty & Staff Association will be officially re-established!

We would like to invite you to join us in celebrating this milestone May 1, from 3:30-5:00pm in The Whole Music Club (basement level of Coffman). You can mix and mingle with fellow Black colleagues, while enjoying good music and good food-- real food, not the bite-sized stuff! You will also be introduced to the founding Steering Committee members and the inaugural Executive Board, and hear our ideas for the upcoming school year.
