THE ONO LAB

Welcome to the Ono Lab at the University of Michigan Medical School!

 

The Ono lab studies the roles played by cellular structures in the life cycle of enveloped viruses including HIV-1 and influenza A virus. 


Our lab provides a research and training environment in which highly motivated individuals with diverse backgrounds (including race and ethnicity, gender and gender identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, culture, religion, age, disability status, political views, and nationality) work side by side and share the excitement in basic science research while being respectful and kind to each other.  

We look forward to mentor students and postdocs who share our value in diversity, dedication to research, and enthusiasm for science!

08/2022   The paper Sukhmani Bedi wrote as first author and Rajat Mudgal and Amanda Haag as coauthors on a molecular determinant in influenza A virus's susceptibility to macrophage-specific inhibition of particle assembly has been accepted to Journal of Virology! Congratulations, Sukhmani, Rajat and Amanda! 
07/2022   Our collaborative R01 program with the King lab and J.Swanson lab within the department to study the roles played by macropinocytosis in ofHIV-1 infection of CD4+ T cells has started.  Yay!
07/2022   The 5-year extension period of our R37 program to study mechanisms that determine the subcellular sites of HIV-1 Assembly has started.  More excitement on this topic to come!
