Basin and Range Rocks

The map above presents samples held at the University of Michigan in connection with research on the paleoelevation history of the Basin and Range.

Samples are color-coded according to sample type, as shown in the legend at right. Clicking on a sample on the map will indicate what physical products are held at the University of Michigan (hand samples, thin sections, mineral separates), and what analyses have been performed on a sample. Where the results of an analysis are concise (e.g. a thermochronologic age determination), the results are also presented. In cases of more complex analyses (e.g. whole rock geochemistry), the description will just note that the analysis was completed.
