This website documents information for the Phase-2 upgrade of the ATLAS MDT electronics.
The default ATLAS MDT tube has a diameter of ~30 mm and a wire diameter of 50 um, the gas mixture used is Ar/CO2 (93/7) with a pressure of 3 bar. The gas gain is about 2 x 10^4, the wire potential is set to 3080 V, and the average electron drift velocity is ~20.7 um/ns. It takes about 750 ns for the electrons created at the edge of the tube to drift to the wire.
The small-diameter MDT (sMDT) tube will have a diameter of ~15 mm.
