I advise Ph.D. student researchers, postdoctoral research fellows, Masters students and undergraduate students at the University of Michigan in research projects related to control theory and its aerospace and automotive applications.
Ph.D. and postdoctoral researcher positions in my group become available from time to time.
I encourage my students to develop scholarly knowledge of the field and a level of mathematical maturity, rigor and sophistication that enables them to successfully progress from innovations and ideas to rigorously proven results which contribute and advance the field of control theory. I also encourage my students to develop an in-depth knowledge/understanding of aerospace and/or automotive systems so that they are able to pursue serious and imaginative treatment of aerospace and/or automotive control applications. This emphasis on the synergies between theory and applications provides a springboard to their future careers in academia, industrial R&D, or government laboratories.
