Research Investigator
Started in the lab: October 2023
Mariane received her Postdoctoral, doctoral, and master's degrees in Medical Pathophysiology from the University of Campinas in Brazil in 2014, 2011, and 2007 respectively.
Now as a Research Investigator in our lab, she is actively evaluating CS585 for a potential role in the treatment of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura (ITP). Outside the lab, Mariane is a proud mother of Helena and Olivia!
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Started in the lab: August 2020
Livia graduated from Colby College with a B.S. in Neurobiology and completed her Ph.D. in Pharmacology at the University of Michigan in 2025
She spent a summer with the lab as an FCVC SURF fellow in 2019 and then joined as a technician in August 2020. She completed her Ph.D. focusing on delineating the signaling pathways regulating platelet activation and thrombosis in the lab of Dr. Michael Holinstat. Livia is continuing her studies on CS585, CS014, and Sotagliflozin in the Holinstat lab.
Graduate Student
Started in the lab: October 2022
Krista received her B.S. in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Sioux Falls in 2021 and is pursuing her Ph.D. in Pharmacology at the University of Michigan.
As a Ph.D. candidate, she is working on determining the antiplatelet and antithrombotic effects of EPA regulated through its 12-lipoxygenase oxylipin metabolite, 12-HEPE. She also works on investigating 12-HETE as a potential diagnostic predictor for thrombosis by collecting samples from cardiovascular patients, in addition to helping with various industry projects in the lab. Outside the lab, Krista enjoys spending her free time playing volleyball and traveling.
Graduate Student
Started in the lab: July 2025
Lily received her BA in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Berkeley in 2021 and PharmD from University of Michigan in 2025. She is currently a PhD student in Medicinal Chemistry at University of Michigan.
As a PhD student, she works on investigating antithrombotic effects of a novel antiplatelet agent and its potential use in cardiovascular diseases. Outside of lab, Lily enjoys watching true crime documentaries and trying different cafes around Ann Arbor.
Clinical Research Coordinator Technician
Started in the lab: August 2016
Amanda graduated from Everest Institute in Dearborn with a Medical Assisting certification in 2010. With a strong background in patient care and nutrition, she supports the lab through both administrative responsibilities and by managing all patient and subject recruitment and enrollment for blood studies. Outside of work, Amanda is an avid animal lover and enjoys traveling whenever she can.
Research Technician
Started in the Lab: September 2023
Ashleigh will graduated from the University of Michigan in 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology, Cognition, and Neuroscience.
In the lab, she is working on determining the receptors through which eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) is able to mediate anti-platelet effects.
Undergraduate Student
Started in the Lab: October 2023
Daniel will graduate from the University of Michigan in 2028 with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology.
In the lab, he works on assisting on various projects in the lab.
