I'm a doctoral candidate in linguistics at the University of Michigan specializing in sociolinguistics. My main focus production and perception of dialects with a particular focus on language attitudes and media. My current projects examine how Southern dialects are portrayed in fictional programs and what effect these portrayals might have on viewers. These projects aim to address sociocognitive theories and questions of dialect authenticity while broadly connecting to linguistic stereotyping.
